Michelle Newnham. UK

When Newnham's (23:12:1968) youngest child was old enough, she took the opportunity to return to education to study Youth work, where she ultimately achieved a first-class honors degree. This left her with a lifelong thirst for knowledge. Largely self-taught, Newnham is proud to have achieved her LRPS.

Her image, 'Angel Of The North,' is held in the Antony Gormley archives as part of their collection. As photographer in residence during 2015/16, she was commissioned by Creative Darlington to deliver Market Revisited, a collaborative socially engaged project. A resulting image titled 'Mr Blair' from this project was her first entry to the 2017 Taylor Wessing award (shortlisted) and won the British photography award 2020 in portraiture (peoples choice) and was awarded an Honorable Mention in the 2020 edition of the International Photography Awards. Newnham also exhibited in the Royal Academy summer exhibition 2019 with her 'Cleveland shorthorn' black and white portrait.
